Anna E. Durkee was the owner of the Wrangell Garnet Ledge located near Wrangell, Alaska. She formed a group of women to create the Alaska Garnet Mining & Manufacturing Corporation at Wrangell, Alaska in the early 1900s. It is also the story of Anna E. Durkee and her success as a mining woman—although it could be said that her success was actually as a promoter of mining and/or fund-raiser activities. She also owned mines in Arizona.
