Since 1939, Boots Court Motel has been a popular destination for Route 66 travelers. The motel, which originally charged $2.50 per night, is well-known for hosting Old Hollywood actor Clark Gable as an overnight guest. In the early 2000s, the motel was in danger of being demolished, but after an outcry from preservation groups, the Boots Court Motel and its Streamline Moderne architecture was saved. In 2021, the Boots Court Motel Foundation was established and the following year the motel was listed on the National Register of Historic Places. A former gas station adjacent to the property now serves as the Boots Court Motel Visitors Center.
